Zachary Galifianakis

Zachary Knight Galifianakis Greek pronunciation born on October 1, 1969) is an American actor, comedian, musician, and writer. He appeared in Comedy Central Presents special and presented his show Late World with Zach on VH1. Galifianakis was in several films such as The Hangover trilogy (2009-2013), Due Date (2010) and The Campaign (2012). He was also in Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance (2014) and Masterminds (2016). He also voiced characters in animated films, including Puss in Boots (2011), The Lego Batman Movie (2017), Missing Link (2019), and Ron's Gone Missing (2021). Galifianakis hosts the Funny or Die website chat show Between Two Ferns. He was a regular on FX's television show Baskets. In the year 2017 his nomination was for win the Primetime Emmy Award in Outstanding Lead Actor in the Comedy Series. Zachary Knight Galifianakis was born in Wilkesboro, North Carolina, on October 1, 1969. The son of community center manager Mary Frances (nee Cashion) and heating oil vendor Harry Galifianakis. His mother is Scottish-Irish and English descent, and his paternal grandparents were Greek immigrants from Crete. He was baptized into his father's Greek Orthodox faith. He has Merritt, his younger sister, as well as Greg, his older brother. The cousin of his Nick Galifianakis (Washington Post cartoonist) is his uncle. Galifianakis was a student at Wilkes Central High School. He then attended North Carolina State University and majored in communications. He was an operator for a radio at an access station for the public while in college. He was a teacher of waltz in 1991 when he was introduced to Mary J. Blige. Galifianakis was one of the Saturday Night Live host for two weeks following his television debut at Boston Common. He has stated "I worked for Saturday Night Live for two weeks. Britney Spears was the host one week when I was there. Will Ferrell was going on a role as an bodyguard for her belly button. Will and I were going to shrink Will down so that she could fit a belly button. ...she just stared at me after I explained it to her. Then she says "Oh that's funny.'" Galifianakis co-starred in the film Out Cold, and had small roles in Corky Romano, Below, Bubble Boy, Heartbreakers, Into the Wild, Super High Me, Little Fish Strange Pond and Largo.
